"Worship through Music"

David Kirk

Born into a family of musicians, Dave began piano with his mother at four years of age. He sang his first solo in church at age 3. At 14 he became a director of music in a church 30 miles from his home town of Decatur, Illinois. He majored in organ with a minor in voice at Millikin University in Illinois. He was on the staff at the Allen Organ Co. in Macungie, PA for 25 years, traveling extensively and working with the Allen dealers across the country. He was known for his church organ seminars, through which he helped organists understand their role as church musicians with creative playing and accompanying skills. He played many dedicatory organ concerts across the country. Dave moved to Florida in 1992 and became the Minister of Traditional Music at Advent Lutheran Church in Boca Raton. He also teaches piano to about 35 students and enjoys composing and arranging for them as well as the choir and handbells at Advent. Dave enjoys photography and his travels throughout the world. His favorite thing, however, is hearing the congregation sing as he is accompanying them either on organ or piano. Dave also heads up the Senior ministries at Advent, creating monthly programs along with trips and other activities.
